I began my career as a newspaper photographer for the Los Angeles Times before moving on to magazine and advertising photography for clients that include American Express, Coca-Cola, Disney, Golf Digest, Major League Baseball, Red Bull and Sports Illustrated. Every project I work on gives me the opportunity to meet amazing people, learn something new, and create a souvenir of the experience in the process. My camera is the window through which I experience life and I’ve been fortunate to enjoy countless memories through photography.
Photography One on One is a collection of detailed stories about the process of making pictures and improving your photography. Within each narrative, I share everything from concept, to cameras, to lighting, to direction, to post-production—with both images and diagrams. I love photography and all of the experiences it can produce and Photography One on One is simply about sharing those experiences. Whether it’s film or digital, strobes or Speedlights, helicopters, rental studios, celebrities, athletes, capture, or Photoshop, I hope you find the stories on Photography One on One valuable and useful in your photography.
I teach workshops and speak at seminars including the Summit Series Workshops, Popular Photography Mentor Series, WPPI, Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar, UPAA Symposium, World in Focus, and Nikon School.
I am also very proud to be a Nikon Ambassador. My relationship with Nikon is long-standing and goes back to my first days as a photographer. The company has supported every workshop or event that I’ve ever been involved with and they have always gone out of their way to do the same for every photographer I know.
Being an Ambassador for Nikon has brought me closer to the company and formalizes a relationship that already existed. The support Nikon provides to their photographers is unparalleled among camera companies.
I encourage you to stop by and say hello to one of the Nikon team the next time you’re at a show or event. Tell them about the work you do and ask for what you need. Don’t be surprised if you walk away feeling like part of the Nikon family.
